The State has ruled to take over the Marlin ISD school district. The take over comes as a result of the district failing to meet the required standards of the state STAAR test. Although the district showed improvements in some areas of the 2016 test scores they didn’t quite improve enough to meet the terms of the state’s one year reprieve agreement that was granted in 2015. The school will remain open and will still operate under the name Marlin ISD. The main changes that will go into effect is the MISD board members will be replaced by a board of managers that will be appointed by the state.
