Chief Deputy Steve Smith of the Falls County Sheriff’s Office is offering free safety training to churches and organizations through a program called CRASE which stands for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events.

The program is designed to teach groups and organizations how to properly respond in the event of an active shooting. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

If your church, business, or organization would like to take advantage of this free training contact the Waco Baptist Association at 254-753-2408 or contact Chief Deputy Steve Smith at the Falls County S/0 at 254-803-2912
