The Marlin Elementary third grade music class graced the stage in a musical tribute to the Late Aretha Franklin. The musical took place Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Marlin Elementary school.

The students performed five of Aretha’s greatest hits under the direction of MES music teacher Mrs. Laurie Carter-Reed.

The first selection was “Rock Steady” followed by “Freeway of Love”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, “Walk In The Light”, and “Respect”.

Miss Jur’Kneii Griffin gave an awesome introduction before the program on the history of the Late Aretha Franklin.

Mr. Tristan Bailey sung an awesome solo to the tune “Bridge Over Troubled Water”.

The tune “Rock Steady” featured a bucket band. The band members were Adan Diaz, Ezekiel Dimerson-Lang, Luis Vasquez, Ja’Lyn Workman.

The tune “Freeway of Love” featured Pretty Percussionists. Those band members were Lyric Davis, Gelena Diaz, Rosa-Lynn Kizzee, Makylin Woodard.

Walk In The Light & Respect was sang as a mass choir and the students ROCKED IT!

A job well done to the MES third grade music class, music director Mrs. Laurie Carter-Reed and to all who assisted in making this musical the successes it was.
