The Marlin Bulldogs played in a shoot out game Homecoming night against Anderson-Shiro, Friday, October 14, 2016, that ended with a final score of 38-33. The Dogs were down pretty much the whole game, trailing from a 10 point deficit at halftime, which at the end of 3rd quarter that deficit was cut short to just 3 points, only down 20-17.
Both teams scored back and forth in the 4th quarter with less than 5 minutes left in the game, but Marlin would be the last to score. The Bulldogs finished the game with 21 unanswered points that Shiro could not account for. The Marlin offense stepped up tremendously in the fourth and built up some much needed momentum.
Alik Brooks & Charleston Butler were the two guys who had the magic with less than 3 minutes left in the game. With the game going all the way to the wire, Alik Brooks leaped over a defender’s head on fourth down with no time left, snagging a touchdown catch to win the ball game.
Other key highlights during the game came from Keinan Henry, Taequan Tyler, and Isaiah Grey. Tyler did not play the rest of the 2nd half but he did get the Dogs on the scoreboard early in the 1st, bursting down the sideline untouched.
