The Marlin High School Agriculture Science Department took delivery of a new McCormick X1.35 Tractor, to be used at the Marlin High School Farm.
After looking at several different makes and models of tractors the Marlin Agriculture classes used the equipment data to determine the best tractor to purchase. This was a great learning experience for the students in looking at data to make a major purchase.
“This activity should stay with them and give them some guidance in making major purchases after they graduate,” said Mr. Chas Branter who is the MHS Ag Science Instructor.
The tractor was purchased locally, which was another factor the students considered, from TexStar Equipment Sales here in Marlin. Jason Hahn, with TexStar, was extremely helpful in working with the students and the school in the purchase of the tractor and front end loader.
The students have already had the opportunity to review safety practices and procedures as well as instruction on how to operate the tractor and front end loader.
“It has been put to use on the school farm and is proving to be a valuable piece of equipment,” Mr. Branter stated.
The students would like to thank Mr. Hahn, Dr. Michael Seabolt, Ms. Patricia Lewis, and Mr. Rockney Terry for their help in securing this equipment.
